Access to the proper care and services for your mental health and well-being is a universal human right. Period.

With 1 in 5 Canadians experiencing a mental health-related problem/illness, we all have a responsibility to ensure that resources, affordable access to services and support, increased awareness, an end to the stigma, and much more are all achieved. We also have a responsibility to hold our leaders to account to ensure that mental health for all is being taken as a global and national priority. People can not wait any longer for the care that they need and deserve.

Good mental health allows us to cope with challenges, connect with others, and thrive throughout our lives. It’s vital and deserves to be recognized and respected.

While we have and continue to make great progress with increased awareness, access to resources, and even through expanded crisis support, our work is not done.

I urge our leaders to continue to work collaboratively with people with lived experience, mental health organizations, research groups, and more, to ensure better care for all.
